Girls Got Kicks author Lori Lobenstine was featured in the fashion blogzine Fringuese, along with many of Amanda Lopez' beautiful photos. Lobenstine weighed in on the trendy "sneaker wedges" (high heels posing as sneakers) and spoke at length with Fringuese founder Alexandra Phanor-Faury about women in the sneaker game, her own love for kicks and how the femalesneakerfiend community has grown.

Our friends at Hype Kixx came through with a great interview of Girls Got Kicks author Lori Lobenstine. She talks about how femalesneakerfiend.com got started, what inspired the book, sexism in sneaker culture and what it was like being a sneaker lovin' kid back in the 70s...

The dynamic duo of DJ M.A.F.I.A and Cheech Sanchez hosted a packed Girls Got Kicks book party in Melbourne a little while back. M.A.F.I.A spun and Cheech's sneaker portraits were on the wall at The Vic (as well as in the book!) Check out all the heat on the ladies' feet as well...

Piper Carter (left), artist-about-town, made it all happen at "Old Miami" in Detroit. Over 150 patrons got to see a multi-media presentation of Girls Got Kicks, as well as rocking to the talents of the Born in Flames tour with Tamar-kali, Invincible and Wajeed. These female sneaker fiends were reppin' for The Foundation, a beautiful crew that really brings together females in hip hop culture in Detroit. Emcee Nikki (left) won the raffle for a pair of Bob's Classic Kicks, and Kirby (right) let us know her sneaker rule: buy a new pair of kicks every time she wears a pair for the 1st time! Always gotta have that fresh pair...

Speaking of Bob's Classic Kicks, I  had to go check out the real spot. (Including the vault in the back.) Female sneaker fiends who missed the event can pick up a signed copy of Girls Got Kicks at Bob's!
